Matthew Royle graduated from Aston University with a degree in Business Management. He has joined Barratt aiming to specialise in Regeneration.
‘As part of my degree, I spent my Placement year with a big IT company. It made me realise that there’s no point working for a big company if you don’t feel as though you are making a difference and doing something worthwhile. That’s why Barratt appealed to me. Where I live near Manchester, there has been lots of regeneration that’s made a major difference to community life. It would be good to be involved in something like that in the future.
‘I’ve got no construction knowledge whatsoever, so it’s going to be a steep learning curve. But Barratt has been really supportive. In fact, they were sending me newsletters and making me feel part of the company even before I joined. The programme is really structured too, so I’m already really confident I can keep on developing here.’
