Annette Burton graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a degree in Accounting & Management Information Systems. She has joined the Barratt in the Group Finance function.
‘I surprised myself when I joined Barratt! I had also been applying to the big accounting firms, but Barratt caught my eye as a different option. The programme looked well structured and organised. I also liked the idea that I could specialise in Finance yet still develop as a broader ‘business leader’. I’ll get the support I need to work towards my professional finance qualifications. But at the same time, I’ll have more flexible career options in the future, because I should be able to apply my skills to different areas of the organisation.’
‘First impressions are good so far. I was really nervous when I went to the induction event. But they make sure you settle in straight away. You get an information pack, booklets and guides to just about everything. You also meet the directors and your own mentor. In fact, the Group Finance Director is my mentor and I talk to him every day. I could be wrong, but I don’t think people are that approachable in traditional financial environments!
