Adam Ryan graduated from University of West England with a degree in Property Development & Planning. He has joined the Barratt graduate programme as a specialist in Land Buying.

‘I actually joined Barratt a year ago as an Assistant Land Buyer. To put it succinctly, I thought it would be more enjoyable building houses for people to live in than building offices or other bland complexes. I liked the look of Barratt’s innovations too. Their track record in brownfield developments and design initiatives like i-pads showed that they were committed to using land and space differently.

‘There was no graduate programme in place when I joined. I had to learn my way round myself and I’m sure I asked a lot of daft questions. So it will be good to get to know a few of the other graduates. Hopefully, we can learn from each other and help each other out sometimes. I know from experience that you can develop fast here. I won an award after only being here for six months, so you could say I’m proof that hard work gets recognised!

‘This year, the graduate programme should give me more structured training, with rotations around the business and my own mentor. I’m also hoping to begin working towards some formal qualifications, which Barratt will give me the support to achieve.’
